The European single market is a barometer of Europe’s competitiveness

We need a clear vision for the single market’s further development and a stronger focus on its implementation.

The Commission should make the opportunities offered by digitisation more easily accessible, support highly innovative companies of all sizes, more comprehensively exploit the free movement of services as an important component in the industrial value chain, and dismantle obstacles that remain in the way of business mobility.

Member states are urged to implement the rules of the European single market consistently and systematically and to avoid gold-plating, i.e. exceeding the terms of European Union directives.
