China’s Cybersecurity Legislation

Over the last couple of years, the Chinese government has introduced a wide set of legislative acts regulating cyber- and IT security as well as data usage. During BDI’s next webinar on China’s cyber security legislation, Barbara Li, Partner and Cybersecurity Expert at Norton Rose LLP, will present the most recent legislative developments and will inform about law enforcement as well as risk mitigation.

Afterwards the focus will be set on China’s Cryptography Law, which was promulgated in October 2019. According tothe Cryptography Law, “commercial cryptographic products that could potentially threaten national security” will have to pass testing and certification procedures. Richard Bird, Partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, will discuss the implications the Cryptography Law has for German companies doing business in and with China. The webinar also includes an exchange with Dr Rudolf Gridl, Head of Division at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, on the Sino-German talks on cybersecurity legislation.

Participation is free of charge. Come and join us for our second webinar on China’s cybersecurity laws. Please note: No legal advice will be provided during the webinar.
