EU Measures Regarding the WTO Boeing-Airbus Disputes
Position on Possible EU Measures in Response to U.S. Tariffs Subsequent to the Boeing-Airbus Disputes
Since mid-October 2019, the United States levy retaliatory tariffs on numerous products from the EU. The tariffs are based on a dispute settlement decision of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in a case dealing with European subsidies for the aircraft manufacturer Airbus. While the tariffs are in line with the rules of the WTO, they put a burden the transatlantic relationship and result in unnecessary costs for consumers and producers on both sides of the Atlantic.
