In order to implement the new climate targets, the European Commission presented the Fit-for-55 package of climate measures in July 2021 as part of the Green Deal, which also includes a proposal for a revision of the EU Energy Taxation Directive. BDI hereby makes an initial assessment of the key points. Key demands are a reduction of the electricity tax in Germany as well as the perpetuation of preferential tax treatments.
