The discussions about trustworthy 5G and cloud providers and the impact of the Corona pandemic illustrate that a high degree of resilience in both digital and analogue technologies is of central importance. This is only possible with the necesssary competencies, independently developed technologies and a holistic ecosystem. At the same time, protectionism and autarky must be avoided. The BDI advocates a sustainable strengthening of Europe's digital sovereignty.
