The 2014 Ebola virus outbreak has demonstrated in a tragic way the failure of existing international mechanisms in managing health crises. Thus the newly established platform at GHP embeds its work in the international public health approach and the Sustainable Development Goal 3 on health to strengthen health system resilience, implementing the lessons learned from Ebola.

What does sustainable really mean? Hardly any term in politics, economics and the building industry receives as much inflationary use as sustainability. It enjoys a quite diverse range of definitions and it does not always seem clear to everyone what form its implementation should actually take. The recently published “Green Hospital Study” seeks to clarify this issue by getting to the heart of the term sustainability in hospital buildings.

This self-study e-learning course is targeted at medical staff (academic and non-academic) in transition and developing countries who deal with management related matters. The four modules provide basic knowledge on management topics ranging from general management subjects, human resources management, and quality in healthcare to financial management in health facilities.

Infrastructure investments in the health sector often face manifold problems, ranging from incompatible equipment, lack of knowledge to operate it and insufficient maintenance. As a result, adequate medical treatment is hampered and scarce funds are used inefficiently.
