The debate around the EU’s open strategic autonomy has been narrowly focused on trade defenses. With its „Europe’s Place in the World” initiative, the BDI aims to create positive leverage that will move trade partners toward long-term cooperative behavior. The integration and interlinking of domestic and foreign economic policy issues are the basis of this agenda.
