Geopolitical conflicts and protectionism are shaping the international economy. This ongoing situation requires new approaches and measures in trade policy to ensure that Germany remains an industrialized, exporting, and innovative country. On the one hand, the Federal Government must promote WTO-compliant trade agreements. It must also initiate additional efforts to establish rules-based trade and facilitate low-threshold trade.
