Reform of the WTO Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures

In order to reduce the market-distorting effects of industrial subsidies on global competition in both merchandise and service trade, the WTO Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures needs to be urgently reformed. For the most part, the BDI is d’accord with the reform proposal of the Trilateral Initiative. The list of prohibited subsidies should be expanded and an enforcement mechanism and stricter disciplines are vital for increasing the notification of subsidies.
