The Phase One Deal

At the beginning of 2020, the United States and China agreed on a "Phase One Deal" to settle some trade policy issues between the two powers. The agreement addresses problems regarding the protection of intellectual property and forced technology transfer but contradicts the principles of free and rule-based trade through targeted purchasing commitments.
