In these uncertain times, a smoothly functioning World Trade Organization (WTO) would be a key instrument to ensure free and fair world trade. Unfortunately, however, the current state of the WTO is characterized more by stalemate and diverging interests among member countries. Some of the current challenges must therefore be addressed before the upcoming ministerial conference in Abu Dhabi at the end of February 2024.
