For an innovation-friendly Europe: strengthening the industrial healthcare sector as a key industry

Following the European elections and the new Commission taking office, the realignment of European policy is in full swing - and with it the opportunity to set the course for a sustainable healthcare industry. The BDI presents its recommendations in a new position paper: Reduce bureaucracy, promote research and production in a targeted manner, facilitate data utilisation - and drive forward an ambitious life science strategy for Europe.

The industrial healthcare sector is a key pillar of the European economy. It not only provides ground-breaking innovations in medicine, but also secures jobs, value creation and resilience in times of crisis. At the same time, the industry is facing growing challenges: Over-regulation, high bureaucratic hurdles and a lack of economic incentives are jeopardising Europe's competitiveness.

The new position paper ‘The German healthcare industry in the context of European policy’ analyses current regulatory developments and formulates specific recommendations for a sustainable, innovation-friendly healthcare industry. The focus is on the areas of pharma & biotech, medical technology and digital healthcare solutions, which are key sectors that will play a decisive role in shaping Europe's future.
