Dr. Bernd Ohnesorge has been Head of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Region of Siemens Healthineers since 2018.
Dr. Bernd Ohnesorge joined the Siemens Healthcare Unit in 1994 and held various positions in Research & Development, Marketing and Business Unit Computed Tomography until 2003.
From 2003, various management positions followed. He was Head of Marketing & Sales, Business Unit Computed Tomography (2003-2006), Head of Siemens Healthcare China & North-East Asia in Beijing (2006-2010), Head of Business Unit X-Ray Imaging Products (2010-2011), Head of Business Unit Magnetic Resonance (2011-2015) and Head of Region Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (2015-2018).
Bernd Ohnesorge studied Data Communication and Digital Signal Processing (M.Sc.) at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg and received his doctorate in Biomedical Engineering at the Ludwig-Maximilian-University in Munich.

The Future of Health Systems – How should they be shaped to better prepare for pandemics?
The state of health infrastructure in one country can profoundly affect health security worldwide as we have unfortunately learned through the current COVID 19 pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic is a global challenge. No single government or institution can tackle the threat of future pandemics alone. It requires sustained political leadership, political will, global coordination, regulatory alignment, solidarity and continued financing. Prevention will be key to enable our healthcare systems to face long-term challenges – epidemic risks, ageing population, chronic diseases, antibiotic resistance – that threaten the sustainability of our healthcare systems. The panel on health policy will grapple with questions of effective pandemic and crisis prevention, preparedness and response and the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic.
