Dr. Rainer Dulger

Since 1998, Dr. Rainer Dulger is Managing Partner of the ProMinent group of companies, Heidelberg.
Since November 2020, he holds the position as President of BDA, the confederation of German employers‘ associations in Berlin.
Further honorary positions are: President of UBW, entrepreneurs Baden-Württemberg, Stuttgart, Honorary President of Gesamtmetall, federation of German employers' associations in the metal and electrical engineering industries, Member of the supervisory board of the university hospital Heidelberg, Member of the board of trustees of Mannheim Technical University, Honorary senator of the Heidelberg University, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Malta in Stuttgart with jurisdiction over the State of Baden-Württemberg.
From 1984 until 1991 he studied Engineering at the University of Kaiserslautern and graduated as an engineer with a specialization in manufacturing engineering and precision engineering.
From 1994 until 1998 he took a doctorate at the University of Kaiserslautern in mechanical engineering.
He is married and has two children.

The Future of Health Systems – How should they be shaped to better prepare for pandemics?
The state of health infrastructure in one country can profoundly affect health security worldwide as we have unfortunately learned through the current COVID 19 pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic is a global challenge. No single government or institution can tackle the threat of future pandemics alone. It requires sustained political leadership, political will, global coordination, regulatory alignment, solidarity and continued financing. Prevention will be key to enable our healthcare systems to face long-term challenges – epidemic risks, ageing population, chronic diseases, antibiotic resistance – that threaten the sustainability of our healthcare systems. The panel on health policy will grapple with questions of effective pandemic and crisis prevention, preparedness and response and the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic.
